RELEVANT EXPERIENCE:

First practising as a commercial lawyer in Melbourne, Kerrie then moved into senior executive roles within the ANZ Banking Group (1985 -1992). These included General Counsel and General Manager - Trust Services at ANZ Trustees, and, later as Senior Manager, Strategic Planning ANZ Retail Bank focused on strategy and restructuring.

In 1992, Kerrie applied her skills to a private family business in the industrial manufacturing sector where she provided the strategic planning expertise required to drive rapid growth into Asia.

From the early 1990s, Kerrie worked in organisations that influenced policy at the state, national and international levels. In 1993, she worked at the Roads & Traffic Authority (NSW), where she rose from Strategy Manager, Northern Region, in just two years to report to the CEO with responsibility for the corporate strategy, environment, ministerial, media, legal and governance functions. Later, she took on national roles, becoming National Director of the Trustee Corporations Association of Australia in 1997, where she developed and executed the industry’s strategic plan. In 2001, she was appointed as Executive, National Corporate Actions, ASX Perpetual Registrars Ltd, where she managed the corporate actions group, with compliance, operations and legal responsibilities.

Over the last 10 years, Kerrie has held various leadership positions within the financial services sector. She was CEO of the Financial Planning Association of Australia (2003-2006) and CEO of the Insurance Council of Australia (2006-2010); most recently, she was Director General of the Association of British Insurers in London (2010). In these positions, she assumed an industry leadership role, developing strategy and influencing public policy and professional standards at State, Federal and international levels. This involved managing diverse issues including, climate change, disaster & recovery planning/implementation, pandemics, financial education and literacy, risk management and compliance, regulation, governance, capital adequacy and taxation.

During her career, Kerrie has developed a national and international network of high-level contacts and relationships, and advanced the profile of industries and key organisations with Federal, State and local governments, politicians, regulators, the business community and other key stakeholders.
